For a window shop, importer or contractor, the first sourcing question is not simply "What is the price per square metre?" It is "What exactly will arrive, and does that scope match our fabrication and installation plan?" Use this checklist to evaluate suppliers on comparable terms.
Distinguish profiles, components and finished windows. Verify the supplier’s actual role, included materials and product-specific evidence before releasing an order.
1. Choose the supply format
Profiles are intended for local fabrication and need a section drawing, lengths, material and finish specification. Components or assembly kits require a detailed component list identifying machining, seals, hardware and other included items. Finished-window requests require an opening schedule and complete configuration review.
Keep glass, hardware, assembly, installation and local compliance responsibilities explicit. A supplier's profile catalogue should not be read as a commitment to deliver a complete installed system.
2. Verify the supplier and the proposed production route
Ask for the company's identity and contact details, its role in the order and the proposed manufacturing and finishing arrangements. Discuss which operations are performed directly and which involve other parties. Request relevant photos, samples or a live product discussion rather than assuming every process is in-house.
For technical documentation, identify the issuing body, product series, configuration and scope. A certificate or test report for another product should not be treated as evidence for the one being quoted.
3. Prepare one opening schedule
- Opening identifier, quantity and drawing revision.
- Width and height, units, and whether dimensions describe the opening or the finished frame.
- Fixed, casement, sliding or other required operation, with handing shown on a sketch.
- Frame system, finish and approved colour reference.
- Glass build-up, hardware, insect screens and other required accessories.
- Project location and the designer's performance and installation requirements.
Mark unknown items for review. Do not turn an unverified site measurement into a final manufacturing dimension.
4. Compare quotations line by line
Compare the same profile system, glass, hardware, finish, quantities and supply format. Record exclusions, substitutions, packing, delivery destination and unloading arrangements. Ask when the production schedule starts and which approvals are required first.
For energy-performance claims where relevant, review product-specific ratings and the applicable rating system. NFRC's residential certification overview explains one U.S. verification framework; mentioning it here does not imply that a Yanerfei product is NFRC-certified.
5. Agree the order-release checklist
Before production, confirm the approved drawing revision, supply list, samples or colour references, inspection requirements, packing and written commercial terms. For repeat orders, keep a reference sample and record any approved change in system or component.
